Bishop Dunne Welcomes National Basketball Champion Charles Stoker to Summer Basketball Camp

As a three-time state and national champion, Charles “Stoke” Stoker incorporates his experience and winning pedigree into his skills development training to motivate today's athletes. Stoke is not only committed to developing basketball skills, but life skills as well.

Born and raised in DeSoto, “Stoke” attended Desoto High School. He played for the Texas State Champion Desoto High School squad as a prepster.

He graduated from Desoto High as the school's leading rebounder as well as being the first player to start on Varsity all four years. He was named to the All State Tournament team as a senior and was a three-time All-District pick and earned Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

After graduating from Desoto, Stoke attended Paris Junior College to explore more college opportunities by improving and enhancing his basketball skills. At PJC, he played for the 2004-2005 National Champion Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas. He was named Region XIV Co- Defensive Player of the Year two consecutive years at Paris.

After graduating with his Associate's Degree, Charles attended Central Missouri State (now UCM) where he saw action of play in both his junior and senior year. At CMSU, he played for the 2006-2007 Final Four Finalist Team, Regular Season Champs, Conference Champs, and Regional Champs.

Despite battling through injuries, Stoke was a very solid, smart basketball player and was an outstanding offensive rebounder. He was an opportunistic scorer and was looked upon as a leader and "glue guy" on the team.

After graduating with honors earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management, Charles chose law enforcement as his professional career path. He is currently Deputy Sheriff where his duties are serving as a warrant investigator. He has been on the force for six years. He is also very active in his church (Community Missionary Baptist Church). He loves spending time with family, his son, Ashton and wife, Lonice Stoker.
